Montblanc Hommage A Nicolaus Copernicus, Patron of Art, 2003, 18k Nib, 4350/4810

Quick Overview

Astronomy was Nicolaus Copernicus’ only love. He followed the orbits of the heavenly bodies with his naked eye, and created the basis for today’s view of the universe – the heliocentric system. Considering all his achievements based on his teachings that still hold today – including the reform of the Prussian coin system and the calendar – Copernicus is one of the greatest cultural figures in the history of mankind.

Montblanc Hommage A Nicolaus Copernicus, Patron of Art

 2003, 18k M Nib, 4350/4810

Nicolaus Copernicus' love for astrology and his innovative view of the universe has inspired the 13th offering in the Patron of Art series.  The barrel is machine turned and covered with a beautiful dark grey (anthracite color) lacquer. Nine rings of sterling silver encircle the barrel as a representation of our solar system.  A small greenish glowing faceted meteorite crystal is embedded on the clip to symbolize the sun.

The medium nib is 18k gold rhodium plated.  Gracing its surface is a delicate engraving of Copernicus's orbital charts.
